Have you stayed at the Yacht and
Beach Club in the past? If so, did you enjoy your stay
there and would you recommend this resort to others?
Answers posted to the list:
We stayed at the Yacht Club in 1998 and the Beach Club Oct
8-16 2004.
I really loved the Beach Club. I liked the colors of the
Beach Club
better than the Yacht Club, also, I like the BC's lobby
better.
Location was the main reason we chose these resorts. Our
rooms were
close to the exit to Epcot, so it was very convenient,
although we
were a long way from the lobby.
While our children enjoyed Stormalong Bay, it's size made
keeping an
eye on them tough. My daughter and niece are 13 and swim
very well,
but I didn't like having them out of my sight so much. I
may feel
safe at Disney, but I don't just let the girls go without
keeping
close tabs on them. So, I spent my pool time racing around
the pool
instead of enjoying a book.

I stayed there twice when I was a travel agent (in my
previous life) and they had special tours. I LOVED IT! I
can't afford it as a regular person, but it was great to
walk to EPCOT and take the boat to MGM. The hotel was
beautiful, and the rooms large. I'd recommend it in a
second!

Y&B/BCV have one great
strength - location. You're within walking distance of
Epcot and MGM, giving you tremendous flexibility in
planning your day. You're within walking distance of of
Boardwalk as well, so you have the bakery option for
commando breakfasts if you don't want sit-down at Cape May.
And let us not forget Beaches and Cream.

We love the YC!!! It's actually one of our favorite resorts
and we stay there every Thanksgiving. The rooms are
decorated nautically...open and airy. And, aside from the
beauty of the resort itself, the location is fantastic.
Great restaurants, health club, the launch to the
Boardwalk, Epcot, and MGM.....how can you beat it? You can
also walk to Epcot and MGM if you want to. We've also been
very lucky. Every year either the day or two after
Thanksgiving, we been fortunate enough to see a Disney
wedding right below our room! We always sleep with our
balcony door open and the first time I heard violin music
at 8:30 a.m. I couldn't figure out what was going
on,.....until I walked out to the balcony.Wow! It was
fantastic, and there was Mickey and Minnie, too! What a
fabulous way to wake up! I would definitely recommend this
resort...oh! and AP and Florida resident rates are usually
approx $180 per day or less.

I've stayed at both and overall I have to say these resorts
are my favorites of the non-DVC resorts in all of Disney
World. I love the close proximity to Epcot and the
Disney/MGM Studios. Beaches and Cream is great for a
hamburger or a ice cream treat. There are numerous
restaurant options nearby at the Boardwalk, Epcot, and at
the Swan&Dolphin (Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club is
one of my favorites). I have always found the resorts
immaculate - very well maintained. I am not a swimmer but
my wife and kids really like the pool area.
While there are kids at both resorts (what Disney resort
doesn't have kids?), for a "adults only" trip I like the
Yacht Club better because there are less kids and it's a
little more formal when compared to the Beach Club. For a
family trip I like the Beach Club better because of the
atmosphere and because it's a little closer to Epcot.

My wife and I have stayed at the Beach Club the last 2
trips and really enjoyed it. As many others have said our
number one reason to stay there is how close it is to Epcot
& MGM, Storm Along Bay is the second reason.
However after trying out a couple of new places I we are
going back to our favorite place, The Boardwalk. At The
Boardwalk we get the same proximity to Epcot & MGM as the
Y&B with a taste of night life right at our doorstep with
all the restaurants and bars on the water front. I am an
early morning person and I love to take the paper out onto
the balcony and watch all the workers get the stores
businesses ready for the day.
Once we have our taste of our favorite resort I think we
will have to look at trying out Animal Kingdom or
Wilderness Lodge as they sound fun also.
