If you have stayed offsite while
visiting Disneyland at one of the nearby good neighbor
resorts, which ones would you recommend and why? Were there
any offsite hotels that you would not stay at again?

I always stay at the Candy Cane Inn. I LOVE it there.
They have the
greatest continental (free!!!) breakfast poolside! Rooms
are nice. I
want to go there now! heh

We have stayed at the Park Place Inn twice and were
very pleased
with the hotel. It is close, just across the street. The
rooms
were clean and spacey. There were 4 of us so that may not
be a good
gauge of space! The price was well over 400.00 less than an
on site
hotel. We have stayed at the Disneyland hotel several times
in the
past and found that the Park Place Inn was closer to the
entrance of
the park than the Disneyland Hotel. We got all the same
benefits
such as early admission, etc. So it is a good alternative.

We have now stayed at the Howard Johnson several times
in the last few years and we love it. It is about a block
away--we have no problem with the walk--and they have high
speed internet in every room that is included in the price.
We normally take two laptops with us (my husband is a geek
for a living) and have never paid more than $85 a night.
Our four-year old loves the pool and we always request a
room looking at the pool. The only thing I didn't like was
that the two-story buildings don't have elevators to the
second floor--only stairs.

I would not recommend Days Inn. It was very dirty when
we were there.

I have stayed at a couple places in Anaheim, and I have
to say that my best experience was at the Tropicana. It is
directly across from the Resort,as in 2 min walk. You could
watch the monorail from the hotub, and space was visible
too. It came with free breakfast and the pool area was not
bad. We paid less than 70 bucks a night, you just have to
find a travel agent you can barter with! Me and my husband
stayed for 10 days for 800 dollars canadian for both of us.
I managed to get them down to 500 CDN for beginning of
september this year for 7 days. FYI, generally the hotels
directly in front of the park, aren't really much more than
the ones that you have to take a shuttle from, in fact some
of the ones further away sometimes are more, depending on
where you stay. That and I love the feeling of waking up in
the morning and pretty much I could walk there in my
pajamas and bare feet!
The only thing between me and Disneyland is a cross walk!
Love that. And there is no way I can afford to stay in the
Resort Hotels, so this as good as it gets. Also, a neat
thing I discovered due to the fact Disneyland was so close,
was you can get 1 hour free passes into the
park if you buy something while in there. It's a called a
shopping pass. You can do it for both DL and DCA. I was so
close that walking across the street on the days I wasn't
planning to go, for just an hour in the park, was worth it.
You can catch a parade or go on a ride, buy something and
leave. Just to get a little DL into your day if you are
planning on going to the beach that day or shopping. But
this is only really worth it if you can walk to DL from
your hotel, other wise you have to take the bus there, go
for an hour and come back. Ok well, this has gotten long!
Time to go!

We like the Candy Cane Inn - clean large tastefully
decorated rooms, a nice pool and free breakfast.

Candy Cane Inn. We like the reasonable
price, clean rooms, and proximity to DL. A pretty good
continental breakfast is included also. It is not fancy,
but fine for us. Friendly helpful staff.
They also have their own shuttle bus. We
found that some of the hotels share shuttle buses with
other hotels, and hated the crowding and having to stop at
every other hotel along the way.
